Tis indeed a pity, for When people pull a bonehead stunt like that, it makes
the cops real wary of ever letting it happen again. Just think of the
potential lawsuits if someone--driver or spectator-- had been injured, and then
the police were sued for conspiring to allow people to openly flaunt the law.
Say what you like about that getting too picky and putting a lid on good old
boys having a good old time, but the police had a good chance of getting their
mammary glands caught in the contra-rotating cylinders, for in most states at
least, law enforcement does not have the luxury of participating in or turning
a blind eye to it on a public highway.
