Quoting directly from his ad

"UP FOR AUCTION IS A RESTORED 1965 AUSTIN HEALEY MK III SPRITE THAT WAS
COMPLETLEY TAKEN APART AND STRIPED DOWN TO THE METAL! THIS BRITISH
CLASSIC IS AN EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF HOW ONE L@@KED IN 1965. THERE WAS
$8,000 PUT IN REBUILDING THE ENGINE , TRANNY , NEW RACK INPINION ,
SUSPENSION AND THE BODY WORK! THE RESTORATION WAS COMPLETED THREE YEARS
AGO AND HAS BEEN DRIVEN AND ENJOYED BY THE PRIOR OWNER"

Just FYI (written in a gentle frame of mind) I have a CD full of
photo's I could send you, but here is a text list of a few of the
problems I found in less than 1 hour that night in my garage....

1) The speedometer needle is not attached to the speedometer
2) The speedometer cable is missing from the vehicle
3) The tachometer is not functioning
4) The fuel pump is not functioning
5) There is no fuel gauge visible, just a blank plug in the dash where
the gauge should be
6) There are no horns
7) The horn mechanism is missing under the horn button, just a cut wire
8) The wipers are inoperative
9) The windshield washer system is completely missing
10) The demister fan is not working
11) The heater vent control cable is missing
12) The right hand demister ducting is missing
13) There are cut and loose wires under the dash some of which are `hot4
i.e. unfused 12V.
14) There is a wire from the dash that has been cut and wrapped around the
right rear leaf spring
15) The passenger seat squab is not secured to the frame and is held off
the floor by a pillow ( pillows are definitely not part of the restoration
process)
16) The wiring harness from the front to the back of the car is in plain
sight on the floor on the passenger side
17) There is no hood prop mechanism ( basic need )
18) The grill is just pushed into place and is not secured
19) There are no safety belts.
20) Several switches are inoperative
21) The steering wheel is cracked and badly damaged (you stated that it
was not cracked, this was very important to me)
22) The door latch escutcheons are loose and not secured to the doors
23) Back up lamps, lens and wiring missing
24) The rear License plate lamp and wiring is missing
25) The soft top is unfinished.
26) Six soft top securing fasteners are missing both from the soft top and
also are missing from the body.
27) The soft top is missing the weather seal between it and the windshield
frame.
28) The vehicle4s wiring is unsafe with open `hot4s and `short4s,
necessitating rewiring (rewiring a restored vehicle?)
29) There is no trunk seal, it is missing
30) The hood seal is missing.
31)     The Fuel line from the rear to the front of the car is not safely run;
it is almost touching the ground.
32) There is duct tape holding the duct hose to the blower motor, etc.
33) The fitting that holds the fresh air intake to the front is missing.
34) The fuel filter is tie-wrapped t0 the horn of the Air filter.

The engine is a mish-mash of different parts with a fake engine number.
There are more items, but this should be enough to give you an idea...

Yes! I have learned a valuable and expensive lesson. But as I am unable
to fly, knew nobody in St Louis, and as I live in South central
Washington, I depended on 'good faith'

Please excuse the bandwidth.. I'll take up no more of the lists' time
