GREAT shots!  Thanks for the memories.

Having lived in the East all of my life, I always read about the California
guys & their hot rods, their lakebed racing including Muroc & ultimately the
drag racing that sprang up.  Some of the cars dragracing in the '60s looked
much like these from the early '40s.

I bought my first issue of Hot Rod in the summer of '54.  It has been
"downhill" from there.  I did my first sanctioned racing at the drags.  Lots
of fun, trophies, championships & even a class record for a few years until
I caught the sportscar bug.  Not, much glory racing vintage sportscars.
But, a LOT of fun.

BTW, magazines like Hot Rod have a lot to offer us sportscar types.  Over
the years, I've picked up interesting engine building, hot-rodding & tuning
tips from them.
