I've found that new belts are a tight fit. They stretch after a short
while, so you'll have to re-tighten after a few hundred miles. When I
put them on, I round the crank and the alternator first, and then pry it
over the water pump pulley.

Subject: Fan belt - doesn't fit

Hi Folks,

I just noticed that the fan belt is worn out and about to go. (man, I
could have sworn I only put that on last year)
Anyways, I dig out a new one that I had got from Victoria British a
while back. But guess what - its too freaking small.
Its part number 2-419 and it is a Quinton Hazel QBA1100.
According to the QH online catalog, a 1500 Midget should take a QBA 1088
alternator belt.

Has anybody ran into this - before I go bitchin to VB.

The old one is a Gates 7440 (I'll check tomorrow if Advance Auto has
one) and I had no trouble putting it back on so its not like I'm mixing
up the pulleys or anything. Doing a side to side comparison, the VB belt
is noticeably smaller.
