I am coming in kind of on the end of this thread but here is what I have 
discovered.  The exact same Spline of the Side curtain Sprite was used in the 
"baby" Triumph and Standard cars as well as most early Lotus cars up to the 
late '60s.  A Herald uses the same splines so a steering boss from a Herald 
will work with a Spridget and vice-versa
