I absolutely believe this.
The improvement in human situational awareness when all senses can be brought
to bear "unemcumbered" is astounding. Same thing is true when flying open
cockpit
aircraft (all other factors being equal).
In terms of accident avoidance....
had I not had the top up while driving to the airport at o'dark thirty one
morning, there is no way a certain large truck would ever have gotten close
enough to me to "bounce" my Spridget off the highway.
