Hello Robert,

i did something similar once on a VW Rabbit... i broke off an
oil sending unit in the block ... luckily for me
the extractor plugged the hole enough to allow me to drive to a
mechanic who knew what he was doing .. i watched (and paid)
       while he..

got a very fast drill motor and put a "pin" drill into it(you
know, #29?, 3/64"? .. and drilled a series of hole in the metal
of the broken thing.... until there was room,-- enough looseness
around the extractor to get IT out, then put a slightly larger
hole in that area to put in a LARGER extractor and back the
broken piece out of the block... ... one thing you may try is
left handed drill bits.. they may slide along the extractor
better while you are pin drilling...

       good luck!
