It depends on what you are looking at.  Land's End in Cornwall to John 
O'Groats in Scotland is well over 800 miles, while to the Shetland 
Islands is over 1,000 miles.  From the Mexican border to the Oregon 
border is less than 800.    In terms of land mass, you are right as 
California has about twice as much as the U.K., but with only about half 
the population.

Now, who knows why Great Britain is smaller in all respects than the 
United Kingdom.  All of this, of course, goes out the window if Tony 
Blair's "devolution" follows its logical course, making it "the formerly 
United Kingdom" and the "once Great Britain". 

Now, all of you in Blighty are ineligible for this quiz because you 
BETTER know the answers all ready.  If you don't, shame, shame on you!!!
