A lawyer driving his beautifully restored Healey 3000 (obligatory LBC
content) is pulled over by a cop in Philadelphia. He figures he's smarter
than the cop since he is a lawyer and assumes he has a better education than
the cop. He decides to prove this to himslef and have some fun at the
expense of the Philadelphia cop.

Cop says, "License and registraion, please".

Lawyer says, ""What for?"

Cop says, "You failed to come to a complete stop at the stop sign, sir."

Lawyer says, "I slowed down, and no one was coming."

Cop says, "You still didn't come to a complete stop. License and
registration, please."

Lawyer says, "What's the difference?"

Cop says, "The difference is you have to come to a complete stop. That's the
law. License and registration, please."

Lawyer says, "If you can show me the legal difference between 'slow down'
and 'stop', I'll give you my license and registration and you can give me
the ticket. If not, you let me go with no ticket."

Cop says, "Sounds fair enough, sir. Please exit your vehicle."

The lawyer exits his Healey whereupon the cop takes out his night stick and
starts beating the crap out of him.

Cop says, "Do you want me to 'stop' or just 'slow down'?"
