Modern vinyl has to be digitized before mastering because none of the
mastering houses are set up to master from analog tape...assuming you
somehow managed to find analog tape and a tape recorder to record your album
in the first place. IMHO, a well mastered CD sounds more like the original
master than vinyl ever did. It's all a matter of perspective. Do you want it
to sound like it did in the studio when they mixed it, or do you prefer to
hear what had to be done to the sound to squeeze it onto a vinyl record?
It's all a compromise.
Note: If you routinely listen to mp3s with earbuds, you're not even allowed
an opinion.
