Somebody's buying the stuff or they wouldn't be making it.  I doubt that 
they care so much about their face as they do about their stomachs at this 
point.  When more quality is demanded and people are willing to pay the 
price, it'll come.  The money that they're earning now by selling junk will 
most likely be used to invest in producing better junk and things will 
evolve.  Manual labour will be replaced with machines, etc.  What I'm 
curious about, is what's going to happen in China when all of these male 
babies grow up and find out that there's no women around.  That could be 
interesting to watch ... hopefully from a distance.

Pardon my lack of historical knowledge here, but weren't Japan's industries 
rebuilt by the US after WWII and they were taught 'processes' which they 
improved upon and they became dedicated to continual improvement?
