According to my book on IH trucks, it's a Metro-Mite, which was
introduced in the 1958 model year, to compete with the VW Transporter.
The engine is the same as in the Austin A-55. I'm thinkin' 1500/1600cc,
as opposed to 1800cc, at that time. Maybe one of our UK guys can shed
some additional light on it.
Funny. I was aware that the Scout came out with a 4 cyl. Engine, but
just assumed it was derived from one of the Farmall tractor engines.
Apparently, all of those 4 cyl. Scouts were powered by that A-55 engine,
as well as the Metro-Mite vans. I haven't looked up the production
numbers, yet, but I suspect that there are a fairly large number of
those engines still surviving & thriving in Scouts, today.

B series engine

I remember little step vans and Scouts with a BMC engine, but I always
thought it was the taxi block. Maybe I'm wrong.
