Excellent, you have had the experience! Here is just one of my Lotus Seven
rain stories . . .

I was in my '62 Super Seven and it had full weather equipment and by the
appearance of it, a person would believe that it would probably stay somewhat
dry inside. The exact opposite of that occurred. I was making a run to my
old home of about 130 miles and there was some chance of a thunderstorm. So I
stashed all of the weather equipment and took off. About 50 miles into it,
rain began to come down. At first, rain was only blowing in between the
convertible top and the top of the windscreen. Then the water started coming
in beneath the windscreen. Then the water started coming in by the buckets
somewhere in the footwell. I wear glasses to see properly. I had to remove
the glasses to try and see again. I found an overpass and stopped to remove
both sidecurtains (doors) as they weren't doing anything useful anyway. The
only way that I could see to drive on the road was to look out to the side of
me at the white end of lane markings. Remember it is right hand drive. Every
now and then a semi would go by and blast me with a few buckets of water mixed
with pebbles.

I think that I would have stayed more dry had I strapped myself on top of the
Lotus with no weather protection.

However, I can honestly say that the the theory of spraying water into your
carbs really works as that Super Seven had never run so good. The water was
also going into the open throats of the two weber sidedraughts. By the way, I
could never keep those carbs in sync or acting right until that day.

>UNDERSTATEMENT, Mike C.!! BTDT Buddy is Springpatch had a Super 7 and we
were taking a BUNCH (16 or 18 IIRC) cars to a shopping mall for inside display
for a week. We DID have hoods erected expecting "showers". Got deluge
instead. 12 miles later at said mall I was the MOST DRENCHED!!! Even the
Frogeye folks were dryer<VBG>!!
