Every one of these that comes out of the bushes has its own set of PO created
anomalies, this one had a few as well.
A 1500 Triumph engine was dumped into the bay and supported by a crowbar. Not
mounted in any way, it looks like they laid it in there to think about it. It
will be leaving. (Any Midget guys wanting a free 1500 lump and trans?) Disc
brakes already done(nice!) Front factory sway bar already in(nice).
The wheels were a real time-warp. I had made a set like this back in the 70's
for a car. The centers are punched from bugeye wheels and welded with
appropriate offset into a set of Carvair hoops. A bugeye with over 6" of
rubber looks pretty silly. I'll be replacing the wheels with something else
at some point. Any of you racers out there that want to run SERIOUS amounts
of rubber on an English 4x4" wheel? Give me a call.
The forward hinge bonnet is truly a forward HINGE bonnet. The PO welded a
gate hinge to the front of each leg and to the bottom edge of the bonnet.
Interesting approach. It looks like he ground the bulge off the ends of the
hinge pins so they can be pulled to remove the bonnet.
Most everything else is pretty normal, no taco wrappers yet and no STOP signs
in the floors.
I'm returning the A35 to its original 948cc for commuting mileage, so I have a
nice street 1275 and 5-sp to go in it already. So this gets rid of my extra
powertrain.
Resale red paint job, 1275 w/5sp, total rebuild, Sebring bonnet, and its hello
Barrett Jackson and some serious sucker money!!!!!!!
Alright, so I get a bit dreamy in the mornings.
