Thanks, Steve. Actually, Windows Outlook and Outlook Express have
morphed into Windows Mail, on Windows Vista operating systems.
I clicked onto a "Help" icon, which directed me to some sort of forum.
Apparently, I'm not the only one who has encountered this surprise. Of
course, other than a whole bunch of complaint posts, on that particular
"Help" site, there was nothing in the way of Help. So, I called the
outfit I bought the new computer from. I explained to the "Geek" I
spoke to that I really didn't want to post my sad story on some
Microsoft forum......I wanted to reach out and CHOKE somebody! He said
"no problem, just bring the tower into the store and they'd be happy to
correct the problem".
Well, since it was time for me to go out and mow lawn for a few hours, I
decided to wait until today to take any action.
WOULDN'T YOU JUST KNOW IT!?!?!?!?! Suddenly, my new computer has spell
check IN ENGLISH!!! I have NO idea what cured the problem (I guarantee
it wasn't me....at least, not deliberately ;)).
Of course, I'm back on my 10 year old Gateway computer, because the new
one can only SEND email, and not receive, from my local provider. It's
been corrected two or three times, but the problem keeps returning. So,
I'm about to broadcast a message, to all of my contacts, with my new
Hotmail address (abcoz@live.com). I can only deal with so much
frustration, in one week.....

Bud,

When you say "vista's" spell check, are you referring to the spell check
in
outlook or outlook express? It "borrows" the spell check from MS
office.
If your version of OE is relatively old, but you have office 2007, you
will
have this problem. My OE thinks I speak French. Fun.

Here are some ideas for a fix:
