Basic rules for driving in and around Eugene, Oregon

When your light turns green, wait until you see how many cars are going
to run the red.
Never assume that the car or bicycle going the wrong way on a one way
street at night will have its lights on as it runs the stop sign it
would have had had it been going the right way.
When approaching a freeway off ramp, make sure that the car ahead of you
is not backing up to make the exit he just passed.
When approaching a freeway off ramp, never assume that the car ahead of
you is not going to make a U turn in order to make the exit he just passed.
Do not expect the bicyclist going the wrong way on a one way, at night
with no light, in the center of your lane will move to the side of the
road when he sees you coming.
At a 4 way stop, plan on a steady stream of non stopping traffic from
the direction of whoever is brave or foolish enough to enter the
intersection.
Turn signal use is unlawful anywhere in the Lane County area, unless you
plan to turn the opposite direction from which you are signaling and are
in the wrong lane for the turn you actually make.
Rear and side view mirror use is unlawful anywhere in the State of Oregon.

This might explain why your mass transit driver is sometimes in a bad humor.
