Madge has always been remarkably dependable. Since 1972, which includes
10 years as my daily driver, I have had the following emergency situations:

Distributer fell off at 10PM. Put back in place, wiggled until car
started, and tied in place with dog lead. Drove 25 miles home. The next
day I drove 15 miles to the shop and walked 3 blocks to work.

Exhaust pipe broke off manifold in Salem, OR, coming home from Whidbey
Island, WA. Drove 50 miles home and probably woke all my neighbors
sneaking into my garage at 3AM

Throwout bearing failed about 1 mile from home. Drove home without
clutch. Drove to repair shop the next day & had new T/O installed.

Brand new T/O failed in Woodland, WA. Ex husband trailered car back to
shop for replacement done by sober mechanic.

I carry an assortment of sockets, open & box wrenches in 1/4, 7/16, 1/2,
& 9/16. I have a 9/16 deep socket attached to a 6" extension that lives
beside the driver's seat for checking the gearbox oil. A ratchet and
extensions, assorted screwdrivers, a couple of needle nose vice grips,
and a crescent wrench should enable me to do most repairs that I am
capable of doing.

All my cars carry a spare belt, oil, ATF (if needed for that vehicle),
brake fluid, and water. In the summer ( I live in the desert ) I carry
at least 2 gallons of water.
