Look for a leak out of the bottom of the water pump housing.
Listen for squealing noise from water pump.
Is there side-to-side play between the shaft and the pump housing?

Other than spewing coolant by pulling off a hose or looking for leaks, how
do you know if your water pump is up to par or ready to launch into the
radiator?

On a 1098 at least...

Thanks
Chris
