Hi Jim,
I don't know if you received any replies to your question. I think many are
scratching their head over this question because normally alloy rod bolts
aren't color dyed or phosphate coated. However coatings or different thread
lubes would change the torque required to get the same bolt stretch. I haven't
worked on a 1500, but my opinion is to use the higher torque. An additional 4
ft lbs. is not much and will not break a rod bolt. I hope this helps.
