Some will also spin balance the crank, allowing for the (recripcating)

Thanks to Ron Soave I think I finally have my head around engine balance
and concede. 6 and V12 engine's are inherantly balanced. The rotating mass
at the front of the crank that I have heard called a "harmonic balancer"
should only be called a vibration dampner.
So, now, my question is when someone says a 4 cyl is balanced what has
been done to it? Just the rods and pistons weighted to the same figure?
