Kirk,

My K&N filter on my single HIF44 *IS* foam....   I thought K&N filters were
made of foam...   That said, I'm sure there are different grades of foam and
therefore different degrees of filtration/intake restriction....   I love
the K&N as I can use the cleaning kit periodically without having to buy a
new filter...   As long as you have some filtration going I doubt you've
harmed your engine...   On the other hand, as Vizard points out, running
with *NO* filtration ain't a good thing to do unless you plan to rebuild
that race engine a coupla times a year    ;-)
