What Ron said....   Fast phase changes in Magnetic fields will cause
electromagnets to resonate. Electron Magnetometers occasionally give off a
buzzing/humming sound when the fields swap polarity. Something above 1 Tesla
would make even more sound but the air is stirred by the magnets (or coils?)
themselves, not by the field.

FWIW, the MRI I get locally is an "open" unit.  I lay still on the table
while the business part of the unit rotates slowly around me. The images are
very clear but I do not know how many Tesla this machine uses. I do know it
takes up most of a small building!
