I'm going back the other way, to glorious mono. I pulled a mid 50's vintage
Ampex console from my wife's grandparent's basement and am busily learning to
replace capacitors and selenium rectifiers. I has a stereo reel to reel tape
machine, which makes it one of the first stereo consoles available (Elvis
reportedly had one), but you can't find new reel to reel tapes anymore, so I
doubt I'll restore the old RtR. Two speakers, two amplifers but no stereo
source.
