List.

Is it possible to replace the center carbon contact in my distributor cap
from another cap that I found in my parts bin? This other cap is new. .
from some other application years ago. The carbon piece in the new cap is
the same size as the worn one.

The contacts that interface with the rotors edge are in near perfect shape.
The only worn part is the spring loaded center contact. I am guessing that
the center contact might have worn as badly as it is due to the high energy
coil that I am using?

My cap with the worn center piece is also a cap that is not found at the
local auto part stores (I have checked). Rather than do the research and
order a new cap it seems that it would be faster to replace the center
contact . . if that is possible?

I know that this is a strange question as most would simply by another new
cap . . but I thought I would check and see if anyone has ever pulled the
center contact out before to replace it?
