Dave,
5K sounds reasonable to me as well. I don't know if the 20k oil change is
based on any kind of science or whether it's a marketing ploy to make the cars
seem to require less maintenance. I admit I'm an old 3K guy and I'm sure oil
tech has improved since they drubbed that into our heads. OTOH, take a look at

Rick,
I'm like you. I purchased a 36mm socket($24), filters, & oil from my local
dealer and change oil every 5000mi. My 2005 S's interval is 15000mi. So I
change it twice and take it in on the 3rd change so they reset the
indicator and be happy that I'm bringing it in when scheduled. The filter
is pretty small to last 15000mi even with synthetic.
