[Spridgets] brakes

This has come up before, and AFAIR someone (not Frank, was it?) actually
welded an extra bead onto the contact points of their shoes to make them fit
correctly. The easiest way I've found to make sure its not adjustment is to
tighten the shoes until the wheels just barely turn, then bleed the brakes
out, then back off of the adjusters to a drag point.

As Jim pointed out, this is a typical symptom of the rear brake shoes
not being close enough to the drum. In fact, many of the replacement
shoes on the market seem to run out of adjuster before they get to the
drum. You should be able to get a slight drag between shoe and drum.
At that point, the dreaded double-pump should go away (until you get
enough wear to bring it back.
