I'm not sure if they were painted engine colour when they left the factory
or not. Most I've seen have been unpainted.

side of the block near the front and high up near the head. It was
pretty grungy so I wiped it off with a rag. I don't know if it was
originally all the same color or if I just rubbed more on the raised
