I wonder what the economic problem is with wind energy.

Everything boils down to turning a generator.
1. We can buy a generator, connect it to a steam turbine, dig a big
hole somewhere to retrieve coal, haul it hundreds of miles on a train,
burn it in a boiler to power the turbine, figure out how to clean the
emissions, and sell the electricity. And all of this requires a pretty
expensive facility to operate.
2. Or we can buy a generator, connect it to a steam turbine, dig a big
hole somewhere to retrieve uranium, process the uranium, let it generate
heat which eventually creates steam to power the turbine, figure out
what to do with the used uranium, and sell the electricity. And all of
this requires a VERY expensive facility to operate.
3. We can buy a generator, put it up on top of a stick, the FREE wind
powers the generator, and we sell the electricity. No smoke to clean,
no uranium to store. Why is this not cheaper?
