Years ago a fastener sales rep/tech guy came and gave a short seminar on
fastener usage where I used to work.  He told us that helical spring washers
were worthless as far as "locking".   He told us a simple flat washer was just
as effective as a "lock" washer.  We asked him why they still made and sold
them.  He said "Because you keep buying them despite what we tell you."
