There are little cotter-pin-like clips that hold onto the line and have
their other end poking thru a shallow channel there.

I'm thinking of the same but once I saw the original line somehow tucked in
a spot under the car I can't figure out how it clops on. I'm going to wait
till I can get my Sprite on a real lift to investigate.
