Thanks, all. I thought it stunk, I just wasn't aware of the mechanics of
the fraud.

Great list!

Subject: [Spridgets] No LBC; Possible PayPal Scam?

I have a friend who is selling an early Mustang. He got a message from
overseas asking for the final price and his email address used for his
PayPal
account so that he can pay him.

The fishy things are that he is more interested in this email address than
settling on a final price; he claims to be from England, yet his command of
the language is atrocious; he is talking of having his own shipping agent
arrange to come pick it up; and he is offering to pay the PayPal fees for
the
seller. I think this smells funny, but what harm can come from giving him
the
email address? Hell, itbs already on the emails they have exchanged.

Is money deposited in your PayPal acct protected from scam artists at all?
Ibve had lots of purchases arranged thru PayPal, but never sold anything.

Opinions?
