I was introduced to this delicacy in the Philippines in the 1960s. Getting
one down was quite the feat for an American. I remember that copious
amounts of alcohol was involved but I somehow won the bet as I had about
$80 stuffed in my pocket when I came to in the latrine... We were there on
R&R and when you think you might be killed at any time you tend to throw
caution to the wind!
