No, a Mini (transverse A-series) uses a lip seal. Because the Mini crank =
does not have a flange, there=E2=80=99s no obstacle to fitting a one =
piece lip seal. Also, because the traverse design uses an aluminum case =
where the back plate would be on the inline engines, it=E2=80=99s part =
of the overall design.
