I'm finishing on the restoration of my Bugeye with modifications. =C2=A0It =
has a 1275 cc engine, negative ground system with a new alternator and Cran=
e ignition (XR700). =C2=A0The coil is stamped=C2=A0BYS 11P12 - apparently a=
Lucas DLB101equivalent. The resistance across the +/- terminals of the coi=
l with no connections is about 3.4 ohms. =C2=A0The circuit is at present wi=
thout any ballast resistor. =C2=A0I'm trying to figure out whether I need t=
o add a ballast resistor. =C2=A0I've read somewhere that for a coil with th=
is low a resistance, the running voltage will be excessive (to what?). =C2=
=A0I see no ballasts in spridget wiring diagrams before about 1975.
Any advice/insight would be very much appreciated.
Walt - (nearly ready for first light & smoke)=C2=A0
