Here in the UK there is a lot of crap made in China or India. I'm not sure
if its still cheaper to buy it here and ship to the USA. I try to buy
parts that really are made in Britain - the front wheel bearings I bought
were expensive. Had the usual trouble with brake light switches and
eventually bought a Goodridge banjo bolt switch that's lasted long enough
to do the same thing again. Reconditioned brake calipers are more
expensive that new ones but aside from my Sprite having MGB calipers I
wanted stainless steel pistons - seems like no-one wants to see me those -
I guess they'll just last so long I might not need to replace them. So I
found an ebay vendor that rebuilds and paints calipers and used stainless
steel pistons as I required. There are still the same challenges as before
and now I'm more likely to recondition a part than buy new even if
initially it seems more expensive. Tom Colby at Speedwell and APT, both in
California are still trusted suppliers.

Regards

Daniel
