Spridget Peoples,
I just wanted to provide an overview of our upcoming 10th Year of Sprite Mi=
dget Race Series (SMRS and end of season awards at Grattan this upcoming we=
ekend.=C2=A0 We are going to have a great time on and off the track as usua=
l.=C2=A0 This event is potentially the largest that VSCDA has had at Gratta=
n.=C2=A0 It is also our largest SMRS turn out of 25 plus Spridgets Racing e=
xceeding the previous 23 high during the MG event that gave us a windfall o=
f Midgets.=C2=A0 In addition we have added a Street and Race Spridget Car S=
how Saturday along with a special street Spridget parade lap prior to exclu=
sive Spridget Race on Saturday evening.=C2=A0 Parking this many race cars i=
n our traditional Spridget Compound was not possible.=C2=A0 I issued a map =
of the Spridget Compound and race cars that will be parked in this area rec=
ently.=C2=A0 If you are not on that map then you will be located in a parki=
ng place by Kathy Newton.=C2=A0 Please thank her for the tough job she has =
of fitting everyone in.=C2=A0 I know this is not what we have traditionally=
experienced for some, but the growth of this event did not allow for all o=
f us to be in the Spridget Compoound.=C2=A0 =C2=A0I would like to encourage=
everyone to come down to the Spridget Compound at the end of each Day wher=
e we have special celebrations planned:=C2=A0 =C2=A0 - Friday evening we wi=
ll open up the Cape of Good Hope Pub with recognition of our Healey Heroes =
and presentation by Steve Coleman on their Historic Sprite Prototypes=C2=A0=
=C2=A0 - Saturday evening Cape Of Good Hope again with Street and Race Spr=
idget Car Show results along with Spridget Race 1st place results per class=
announced
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 - Sunday Lunch at Cape Of Good Hope we will announce end of s=
eason awards and special awards (at this time I have not received the physi=
cal awards, but we will find away to distribute if they do not arrive in ti=
me)
We are going to have lots of cars on the track for Group 2 and also in the =
Exclusive Sprite Midget Race.=C2=A0 Please keep the Vintage Spirit in mind =
and leave the Red Mist out!=C2=A0 I will have ballots for our special award=
s that will need to be completed by Saturday night.=C2=A0 The Jim Donato "M=
ost Respected Driver Award" is the attitude we should carry out on the race=
track, which are identified below:=C2=A0a.=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0=
=C2=A0Criteria: A driver that exemplifies the meaningof a Vintage Sports Ca=
r Driver includes: Predictable: Stayson racing line and points racers by wh=
en being passed or when passing.=C2=A0 Makes sure that over taking driver k=
nows ofhis presence when they are about to be passed and allows room and go=
odjudgement. Confident &Observant: Uses mirrors and is aware of others raci=
ng near them. Respectful: Confirmsthat their race car is mechanically sound=
and will not cause others to beinjured from improper maintenance.=C2=A0 Ca=
nsit down with other competitors and enjoy their company after any session.=
Objective: open toother=E2=80=99s comments, Drives Defensively, adjusts f=
or conditions safely regardlessof other driver=E2=80=99s interaction.=20
