Soft top covers

 Does anyone know if there is an easy way to get the metal soft top covers
 (Mk 1 Tiger) (Series V Alpine) to fit flush with the body and not scrape
 the paint off each other when opening/closing?  When putting them back on
 after getting the car painted they don't seem to fit well, not that they
 ever did....
 The new paint looks really good but having a gap between the body and the
 covers looks really bush league.  Suggestions?
