My father restored his Mk1a (1965) with red hides.  Apparently, his color 
choices were based on the original (artic white over red).  He purchased 
the hides directly from an upholstery manufacturer in No. Carolina and 
had Marquat's in Ft. Wayne, Indiana put it together.
