Andy; proceed with caution! Disney once sued a daycare center for
painting their characters on a playground wall!
In a case of turned tables, Disney sold T-shirts with Mickey and Minnie
in front of an art deco diner. Only problem was that the diner, the
Modern Diner (clearly visible on these shirts), is still in business,
here in Pawtucket, RI. The owner sued and won a copyright infringement
of close to $1 million.
The amazing thing was he gave the settlement money to the Hasbro
Children's Hospital in Providence, RI!
He said it was never about money, only that he had the right to who
could use the image of his business- something that Disney has always
defended with a vengance. My wife has one of these shirts, and I'm glad
the purchase price went to a good cause
