        Sounds like three things. 1. Your carb may be too rich. Check for
a bad power valve or main jets that are too big . 2.Your idle ckt may be
mal adjusted ( again too rich) as evidenced by the too fast idle after
driving for a while ( and cleaning the carbon off the plugs. 3. Weak
spark, due to bad plug wires or bad coil ,points, capicator or igition resistor 
to high ohm reading.  Sounds like you do all your driving in town. 
 Take it out on the road and blow it out.  65 MPH for a few miles may help.
