CURT (AND FRIENDS),

I had the Edelbrock Performer 4bbl manifold AND carburetor on my
Mustang. The statement about Edelbrock not making carbs is only
partially correct. They commisioned Weber to re-engineer the air and
fuel system of the 4 bbl Carter to their design. The Carter is made to
their specifications and bead polished. It runs just fine, is available
in multiple flow capacities from 500 to 750 cfm (600 recommended), with
either manual or electric choke. The primaries are smaller than the two
barrel, so it can run economically if you keep your foot light. The
secondaries open with flow rate, not vacuum or mechanical. The harder
you demand flow, the more it opens. There is only 1 gasket on the carb,
and it is horizontal and above the fuel level. This is unlike the
vertical Holly gaskets, which are known to have leakage problems. It ran
fine just out of the box, but additional springs and rods are available
from Edlelbrock to fine tune. Not having used it in Autocross, however,
I don’t know about starving on high ”g” turns.
