License plates in the UK are big business simply because You can sell them !!

I.e. the plate no. ---------DD1--------- would sell for over $40,000!!
And I'm not kidding.
Our authorities hold regular auctions and make a fortune from all the rich
guys who want a personal plate.
That's why the rally plate nos. are so important i.e. ADU180Band AHP294B .
they identify the car and more importantly its history

A supposed "works Tiger" has just recently had its no. plate removed because
the car was not the real thing?

So instead of a value of £35000 ---its worth is now the same as any other
tiger. Its "history" cant be proved and the original no. plate has been
deleted for all time.

Anyway it's a long and complicated story of fraud, theft and downright lies
and I'm sure you wouldn't want all the Gory details?

Sufficient to say that Mr millers computerised records were real handy!!!!!!!

My favourite number plate was " PEN 15"
Except the "5" was shaped like an "S"
Last time I saw it, it was on a Ferrari ----- but what else would you
expect? DAVID

Tom,
That would be great! After the CA legislature finishes with the over 25
year smog law, maybe we can push for legal 'painted on' license plates!
We'll push it as a great cottage industry. I always liked how a car in
England was assigned a number once and kept it for the life of the car.
I'm sure you could get number letter combinations though that would make
you regret it. (My mother, a good Catholic woman, once had "CEX069" on
her old International TravelAll!).
