This was the way the 55-57 T-Bird hoods were fitted at Dearborn.  Also, the
first few Birds in '55 _did_ have hammered out sections (big as a woman's
fist) on the front underside of the hood to relieve space for the radiator
header tank until the part could be re-engineered.
