Jim,
I would be surprised if the Boss 302 is lighter than the regular
302. The Boss 302 aluminum intake helps, but the Cleveland style
Boss 302 heads are much heavier than the regular Windsor heads. The Boss
302 block was also thicker than a regular 302. The Boss also had
4 bolt main caps which are also bigger.
The 351 Windsor has a taller deck height than the 302.
The 302 is 8.205 while the 71-89 351 Windsor is 9.503" and the
69-70 351 Windsor is 9.480". The extra deck height along with
the larger crank (3" mains versis 2.25") adds a bit of weight.
All of this weight stuff is just a guess by me as I
have been unable to locate documentation on weights.
I recommend HP Books "how to rebuild your SMALL-BLOCK FORD"
by TOM Monroe to all Tiger Owners. It is an excellent book and will
tell you most anything you want to know ( except the weight of the
motors).
