Reading "Shelby's Wildlife" by Wyss for the GT-350Hertz research, and
couldn't resist a peek at what he had to say about Tiger. In chapter
18---Mongooses & Other Beasts---he talks about an early production line
change that I can't recall seeing mentioned before.
..."The first models showed that a relocation of the engine was
necessary and Jensen motors was hired to engineer the relocation of the
V-8 further aft. A panhard rod was installed to limit movement of the
live rear axle, and spring and shock rates were increased considerably
to handle the 200 extra pounds over the stock drive train and
suspension."
At least he didn't mention the guy swinging the sledge into the firewall
to gain Tiger clearance. But relocation implies significant change.
Does this mean that there are different motor mounts or motor mount
locations in the early production models? And early springs that have
weaker rates? Just wondering.
