LAT Hoods

All,

With the many inquiries as to LAT Hoods recently, I figured I better give
Kent Wilcox a call to see if he is still willing to make them. It turns
out that he still has the molds and is willing to produce them.

Kent says to let all know that he is hi-tech in fiberglass fabing, but
lo-tech in telecommunications. He has no e-mail or fax machine, just a
simple rotary phone line. As such, when you call and leave your name and
number, please indicate to whomever answers the phone that you are
interested in a Tiger hood. If you can, it is best to leave both
your work and home phone because he can keep some strange hours on
occasion. His phone number here in El Cajon (San Diego County) is
619-448-6700. Don't be surprised if you don't hear back from him
immediately, sometimes it takes him a day or two.

I know he has one hood available (round corner) now that was a "special
order" that was not picked up. It looks just like a LAT hood but the
bottom of the front scoop is sealed. I guess the idea is to cut out a
hole so that the air cleaner pops up into the scoop for kind of a
"ram-air" type of application. (Bob Palmer may be able to shed some more
light on this idea) I also suppose that this seal could be removed and
the underside refinished, but one is probably better off getting a new
hood. His hoods come smooth finished in primer gray ready for paint and
gel coat.

For those in So-Cal, Kent prefers to help us fit the hoods on our cars to
insure a happy customer; and becasue he loves cars and crating these
hoods can be a pain.

Please note that I have no financial interest in this whatsoever. Just
trying to hook-up them that wants hoods to them that makes 'em.

BTW, Kent tells me that my hood might possibly be a an original LAT hood
(whaddaya think Mr. Barker??) He may be right as it is a little worse for
the wear. Anyway, he has suggested that when I have him build me a hood
in the future (no moola right now) that we leave the screen on the front
of the hood scoop out. I think he is right that it would not only look
cooler, but be less limiting to air flow. Any opinions out there??

Regards,

Allan
