Tom Wiencek wrote about my statement of asymmetric bumper brackets. I am
forwarding my
reply, in case there is anyone else out there in need of help, or who has a
better answer.

Some I can already predict:

1) Jim Barrett: " Move the bumper supports back 4 inches, weld in place, bend
straight with
hydraulic ram and torch, and put in a 351"

2) Tom Hall: "The bumper, and bracket design is poor to begin with. It needs
"modification". Simply through the whole mess away and replace with Stainless
Steel, or
hard-chromed 4130 steel nerfing bars.

3) Dale A: "Those things are just dear weight. Throw them out and go faster."

How can you tell which is which? thanx. Tom

Tom,

As I said in the e-mail, they look alike to me, but the results are different.
Not sure the same
applies to the rear. You also need the curved slugs and the "oval" bolt heads
to make this all
look right. Don't try this alone, you can't hold the bumper and put in the
bolts with two hands
(without scratching the paint) . I was in a hurry, and did it. Just lucked
out, but came close to
screwing up my new paint.

My best suggestion. Mark the brackets "A" and "B" with chalk. Attach them to
the bumpers
with the guards, cover the wrap-around ends with protection, carefully position
and start to
tighten bolts. Have your friends fingers between the wrap around ends and the
body to center
and keep from denting body. As you push the bumper flat against the support,
watch the ends.

If they are correct, bolt it down, and permanently mark the brackets. If they
are not, reverse the
sides and try again. If neither works, something is bent.

Good luck,

Steve
