Shipping Tiger rear drive assembly or engine

Does anyone have any recommendations or experience in shipping, 
in this case from Seattle to LA, heavy large item such as engines or
complete Tiger rear drive assembly (rear end -hub to hub)?  I was quote
$280 by a couple of local freight companys. Is there a lower cost or
better way?

        Any help would be appreciated.
