Dayton also makes splined wire wheels.  I know of a couple of Cobras
with them.  BTW, my Cobra has had splined wire wheels since day one.
They still work fine and after more than 35 years the splines are in
good shape.

As mentioned before on this list there have been several high torque
cars with wire wheels.  Besides Cobras and Allards, there was the AC
Frua 428.  This was a post Cobra car built by AC Cars on a 427 Cobra
chassis with Italian designed coachwork.  There was a coupe and a
roadster version.  The motor was a 428 Ford V8.

Interestingly, the prototype 427 Cobra started out with wire wheels.
This was a modified 289 Cobra with a flip up body, commonly referred to
by Shelby employees as "The Turd".  Wonder what ever became of those
wheels.
