Thanks for the suggestion of British folding tops for column material.

Yes, the XK-8 top sticks out, and so does the Bentely Azure, both padded
tops.

You probably know this, but Ford managed to hide the folded top on 94-99
Mustangs because the car was designed from the start as a convertible,
and the wedge quarter panels(rear fenders) were part of the design to
give more room to top storage and hide it at the same time.

Cars like the XK-8 and Azure have fully lined tops, and I was told by a
designer that this makes totally hiding the top more difficult.

Again, cars designed from the start with convertible plans, like
Mustang, Camaro, Miata, Honda S2000, Toyotas's upcoming roadster, and
Boxster do a much better job.
